What is awarded?

Two scholarships are awarded, each in the amount of $37,000 per year for each year of the scholar's three-year periodontal training program. The Tarrson Regeneration Scholarship is intended to encourage research in regeneration. Since scholars must commit to spending one year in full-time teaching for each year they receive the award, the scholarship also addresses the shortage of periodontal educators.

Who is eligible?

Applicants must be students who have been accepted into accredited U.S. periodontal postdoctoral training programs, or they must be in the first six months of their periodontal postdoctoral training program.

What is the selection process?

The selection committee is appointed by the AAP Foundation President. Finalists must be available for personal interviews during the AAP Annual Meeting. The two scholarship recipients will be announced at the Annual Meeting.
