Elibility requirements and submission guidelines for these scholarships intended to stimulate the development of periodontal educators.

AAP Educator Scholarships were announced in 2005 and are made possible by a $1 million commitment from the American Academy of Periodontology.
Purpose
AAP Educator Scholarships were created to stimulate the development of periodontal educators by providing financial relief to students intending to pursue a career as full-time teachers at U.S. periodontal programs upon graduation from U.S. periodontal postdoctoral training programs. The $25,000 Educator Scholarship is intended to provide help with tuition and living expenses during the training period and may also be used for debt reduction. The Educator Scholar must commit to spending one year as a full-time periodontal educator at a U.S. program for each year he/she receives the award. In addition, the Scholar's program director must commit to a formal mentoring program for the student during his/her academic career. Applicants may apply for AAP Scholarships for up to three years, as long as they maintain eligibility. The number of Scholarships awarded each year will depend upon the applicant pool.
Who is Eligible?
Applicants must have been accepted into or are currently in a U.S. periodontal postdoctoral training program and who intend to enter full-time teaching at a U.S. program. They must also be a Student member of the AAP at the time the Scholarship is granted. Award recipients may not apply for this award again but are welcome to apply for other Foundation awards.
How Do Candidates Apply?
Completed applications are due on or before July 1.
